11/10/08 A MONTH OUT
With my upcoming UFC Fight December 10th on SpikeTV vs Matt Wiman my daily routine is in full motion. Most of you can relate to the preparation for competition. Its grueling but rewarding. The sacrafices that I make today and during this training camp will hopefully lend to an edge in the octagon. Matt is a proven winner with 3 impressive wins of late. 2 Submissions and 1 knockout. I wont take him lightly. I travel everyday as MMA is my life career. I wake up early as most do for work and start my day of training in Mercer County with Ricardo Almeida. He is a big asset to my BJJ training. As of late we have been gathering as a group Jim Miller, Dan Miller, Chris Liguori and other Renzo/Almedea fighters. The workouts have been intense and helpful. After that I head up to Fair Lawn to train at Parisi Speed School for agility, strength and cardio training. These workouts are some of the best I have ever done. The scientific approach has many advantages and my trainer Martin Rooney has developed many systems that push me to points I have never reached before. Given I have always had a good gas tank, but Parisi's has shown me methods to enhance it. From there I head to Rutgers and train with the wrestling team. Unfortunately these College students cant replicate the strength of the grown men I battle within the octagon but they are skilled wrestlers that help my process. I enjoy the time with the kids and aiding their process to be National Champions. At this point of the day I am wearing down but still have boxing training, somedays I train one-on-one, other days I meet my trainer in Howell and Trenton to spar with other local boxers and mma fighters. Most days this is a wrap, but there's a day or two that I head over to Elite Wrestling to run practice and wrestle with the high school kids.
So as you can see there is much that goes into the 15 minutes you see on TV. But as with anything good in life, the rewards are in the results. Always remeber the 6P's. Prior Prepartion Prevents Piss Pour Performance.

10/10/08 "True Life Update: The Fight Continues For MTV’s Mixed Martial Artists"
Program originally aired on MTV October 5th at 6:00PM. Produced by Patrick Lope.
Thanks to Pat and his crew for the great experience.
On tonight's True Life: I'm a Mixed Martial Artist , you met Frankie and his wife Renee. Much has happened in the lives of these fighters since the taping of the show , and they gladly agreed to fill you in on the latest news… FRANKIE EDGAR
After the wedding, things were moving fast. We went to Hawaii — beautiful place, everyone should go there once in their life. Coming back, we must have still thought we were on the honeymoon because Renee got pregnant. I'm super excited to be having a kid. We found out it's a Boy, so that's pretty cool. I'm going to teach him what I know and pass on my love for wrestling and fighting, and hopefully he'll take to it.
As far as training, a lot has changed since the show. I finally decided to join a team: Ricardo Almeda Jui-jit-su and Renzo Gracie Fight Team. I feel that my skills will get a lot better being under a great teacher and with great workout partners. I have started doing strength and conditioning at Parisi Speed School under the guidance of Martin Rooney. He is second to none when it comes to this stuff. I've also continued my boxing with Mark Henry and my skills have continued to improve. These new additions to my training helped me achieve a victory in my last fight over former No. 1 contender Hermes Franca.
Wrestling season has just begun at Rutgers University — we are very excited for this season because our freshmen are highly touted as the No. 3 recruiting class in the country. I just signed my next fight for December 10 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. I'll be fighting for our Troops and taking on the tough Matt Wiman.
Producer's Note: Watch Frankie's interview on the “SIRIUS Fight Club” radio show leading up to his UFC fight against Gray Maynard. Frankie talks about fighting on the world's biggest stage while simultaneously preparing for his wedding.
09/11/08 UFC "Back At It...MTV True Life... Be Careful out there"
Another week gone, things are picking up, I feel healthy and the body
is performing to its capabilities. Its amazing with my schedule how
fast you get back in the saddle. With my upcoming fight in December I
will maintain this steady schedule from here forward.
For those of you that dont know I will be featured in an upcoming
edition of MTV True Life "I'm a MMA Fighter". My documentary is
scheduled to air in October. 5th. Should be good, they traveled with
me for 3 months, (practice, bachelor party, Madison Square Garden
appearance, UFC Events), should be good.
Finally, I want to finish with a WORD of WARNING. Recently, I was out
riding my Honda CBR6 with a good friend of mine. Like many of you I
watch Stunting videos and at one time aspired to be able to do some
of the things I saw. Wheelie come to the top of the list. But after
this ride last week I am completely in a different place now in
regards to that aspiration.
We were cruising back from "The Barn" where we practice, night was
perfect, weather was great. My buddy Roger who rides wheelies for
miles (he's a pro stunt rider) crashed hard right in front of me
while riding one of his wheelie. Like the four wheelie before, it
started clean, watching him get that bike standing at 90 degrees at
50+mph is a sight for anyone. But on this occasion, a car in front of
him slowed down and he unfortunately was not able to adjust to save
the fall. At 50mph and me riding behind him I nearly killed him
myself. But as I avoided his yard sale and pulled over, Roger was up
pulling his bike to the side of road. Let me get something clear
here, Roger is 6+ feet tall, over 200lbs of shredded muscle. Even for
him to be up that fast was just a shear act of god. Honestly I think
I would have been dead. Fortunately for him he walked away with
minimal damage, a broken collarbone, broken wrist and a broken ego. I
just want to be clear that STUNTING is VERY DANGEROUS. Please be
careful out there, think of the consequences. In many cases that will
be your life.
If your out on the road keep an eye out for me I'm all over the
state. Rutgers (New Brunswick) two times a week, Almeida BJJ three
times a week (Hamilton) and Parisi's (Fair Lawn). My Benz CLK500 was
killing me on gas so I decided to get a commute car, got a great deal
on a used 2000 Black Toyota Tacoma Pickup, doing the job and I'm
saving money in the process.
Thanks,

Back to the grind….
After my fight with Hermes I was a little laid up for a bit, I could train but limited in what I could do.After several weeks of healing I've gradually worked my way back into my normal training regimen. This week was the first week I was back full swing. I had a great week of training, all around including cardio, wrestling, boxing and BJJ. With the down time you wonder how it will effect you but thankfully for my constant training schedule I've returned on track, so im excited to be back at my quest to be World Champion. The timimg couldnt be better: pre-season has started for the Rutgers Wrestling Program. We should be competitive this season with some of the Nation's Top Recruits we obtained since last year. I look forward to getting after it with some of the new up and comers. In addition to that, I've been in the final negotiating stages for my next fight. Looks like I will be back in the octagon in December, opponent to be named once I sign the bout agreement in the next couple days. I also started training with Jim Miller (newly signed to the UFC) and Vitor “Shoalin' Riberiro two top light weights that add depth and toughness to my workouts along with Chris Liguori and Ricardo Almieda and the rest of the guys.
Besides just training and working out I have a lot of things going on in my life that keep me plenty busy I just recently did an autograph signing in Syracuse at the new York state fair and seaside heights at jimbos both went pretty well had a good showing at both and met some interesting characters especially at jimbos after 12 (gotta love seaside for that). One big thing that is definitely new is the fact that my wife is pregnant and we are expecting our first son end of January. So dealing with a crazy pregnant woman has been more than enough to handle but im learning to deal or pretending to deal. I'm also teaching an mma class two nights a week which has been fun. Most of the guys are novices so im teaching from the ground up which has been pretty successful so far. So thanks for checking my site for my weekly blog which im doing my best to stay on top of.
Thanks, Frankie
