Jake Varner was 4x All-American and 2x national champion while wrestling at Iowa State. In 2009, while still in college he made a world team and was able to win a couple matches at the world championships. In 2010 in the world team trial finals he was beaten in two straight matches by JD Bergman. Varner bounced back in 2011 and once again was on the world team, and won a bronze medal at the world championships. In 2012 Varner met veteran Tommy Rowlands in the finals and won in two straight matches and is your 9kg Olympian.
